Concrete Grinding & Polishing

Concrete Grinding & Polishing

“Concrete Polishing is the act of changing an existing concrete surface by means of a mechanical process that involves cutting and/or refining the surface to a desired finish.”

A natural concrete floor provides long lasting durability, ease of maintenance, environmental benefits and a natural affinity for slip resistance.

The process of Grinding & Polishing Concrete incorporates industrial diamond grits, impregnating densifiers and sealers. The amount of reflectivity or shine can be controlled: Matte, Semi-Gloss or High Gloss

A natural concrete floor provides long lasting durability as well as environmental benefits.

Surface preparation:

A process to remove adhesives including cutback and other contaminants and/or eliminate uneven surfaces. This procedure usually is performed to prepare floors for a secondary layer – either poured or installed flooring.

Grind & seal:

This extends the surface prep application to include a 4 step grinding process that also introduces densifiers and sealers. The amount of stone aggregate visible and the level of reflectivity can be examined.

Grind, seal & polish:

This 8-10 step process advances the prior steps listed above. It introduces increasingly finer diamond grits to refine the surface and/or improve the reflectivity of the existing concrete resulting in a smooth, polished appearance.

Note: The original concrete pour of any project will differ in the amount and size of stone aggregate contained within. This can vary within the same project.

Mock-up test is highly recommended prior to beginning a project.
